Brother Ali - My Beloved
This is one of my favorite tracks on Brother Ali's recent album Mourning in America and Dreaming in Color. In my opinion, this album is like four steps ahead of the whole hip hop game.

Tragic - Grieves ft. Brother Ali
One of music's amazing aspects is that fantastic moment when you fall in love with a song all over again. [Major run on sentence/paragraph coming next, but it's describing an epic feeling, so punctiation only slows down my fleeting thoughts about this current situation] ...I'm referring to that musical phenomenon that happens when your headphones are on and you're listening to your shit on shuffle and then a frequently familiar song from any point of time in your past starts playing, and it mind fucks you in the sense that it grabs your attention and you are really hearing it for the first time. The lyrics never resonated so deep and the beat never grabbed your subconcious so hard. (that's what she said though...HA!) This also gets me to thinking how our daily and collective perspective and attitude subconsciously determine what we want to jam out to...shit, I digress...The only thing I was really trying to point out was the fact that Brother Ali's verse is fanfuckingtastic and I'm really enjoying rocking out to this song in my headphones right meow

Missing Teeth
This is my jammmm of the day..I woke up this morning with a smile on my face and some fuckitall in my system...nothing can get under my skin today :) .A person's surroundings and situations can only affect them as much as they allow them to. I am the only one who has control over my mind. I choose how I react to daily situations and my surroundings. In other words, I control my own happiness and no one has the power to make me feel otherwise. I do not harbor negative thoughts or welcome negative people into my life...soo if you come around my way with your negative nancy pants on, I'm gonna put my headphones on and chuck a deuce in your direction :)

The Truth Is Here
Brother Ali is one of the few artists you come across that has the ability
to bridge a connection in your mind. He is always reliable when you
need to hear some real words and good advice.
One of my favorite verses by Brother Ali is from his song Palm The Joker...
"To all injury we add insult
got a leather bound edition of shit that ain't our fault
Swabbin' down the bridges with lighter fluid
Too timid to burn 'em
We pray the lightning do it..."
We pray the lightning do it..."
