Ha...initially I wanted to post this song because my Timehop dropped a 4 year old gem; a line from this song I decided to quote. However, while I was in the process of making this post I had the song playing.....and.... long story short...[mood]...whole song...mood, so hard. byeeee gata!
I am insanely excited about Aesop Rock's new single, Rings. Also, this video might be one of my favorite things I have ever laid my eyes on...such a unique and artistic concept. I am very much looking forward to the release of his new album "The Impossible Kid." The album will be released on April 29th, 2016. You can preorder the album here!
This is one of my favorite tracks on Brother Ali's recent album Mourning in America and Dreaming in Color. In my opinion, this album is like four steps ahead of the whole hip hop game.
One of music's amazing aspects is that fantastic moment when you fall in love with a song all over again. [Major run on sentence/paragraph coming next, but it's describing an epic feeling, so punctiation only slows down my fleeting thoughts about this current situation] ...I'm referring to that musical phenomenon that happens when your headphones are on and you're listening to your shit on shuffle and then a frequently familiar song from any point of time in your past starts playing, and it mind fucks you in the sense that it grabs your attention and you are really hearing it for the first time. The lyrics never resonated so deep and the beat never grabbed your subconcious so hard. (that's what she said though...HA!) This also gets me to thinking how our daily and collective perspective and attitude subconsciously determine what we want to jam out to...shit, I digress...The only thing I was really trying to point out was the fact that Brother Ali's verse is fanfuckingtastic and I'm really enjoying rocking out to this song in my headphones right meow
